About Me
As someone who has had a passion for working with animals since the age of thirteen, I have always been drawn to a career in veterinary medicine. Through my experiences working with horses at a ranch specializing in hippotherapy and volunteering at the Chelonian Research Institute, I developed a strong foundation in animal handling, husbandry, and observation. Later, I gained an appreciation for wildlife conservation and the interplay between human populations and endangered species through high-impact learning at the Nambiti Game Reserve in South Africa as well as in Glover's Reef, Belize. I've also worked at a Veterinary Emergency Clinic where I developed skills in recognizing medical symptoms, communicating with clients, and observing surgeries.

In addition to my passion for animal welfare, I have also been heavily involved in collegiate leadership positions. Starting with my involvement in the Residence Hall Association, I quickly developed skills in effective communication, teamwork, and perseverance. These skills have allowed me to take on increasingly important leadership roles, culminating in representing 10,000 on-campus residents for two years on the RHA Executive Board.

My experiences in collegiate leadership have taught me the importance of effective communication, active listening, and collaboration. These skills are highly valued in any organization and are critical to building strong relationships with colleagues and clients alike. I have also learned the importance of perseverance and resilience in leadership, as challenges and setbacks are an inevitable part of any endeavor. Learning to remain focused and motivated despite these obstacles has been a key lesson in all of my leadership positions.

Finally, I have had the opportunity to participate in high-impact learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. As a Team Leader in Honors Symposium, I mentored and supported a group of 33 students as they transitioned to college. This experience allowed me to develop skills in leadership, mentorship, and active listening. I have also taken part in service learning experiences, where I have been able to apply the skills I have learned in the classroom to real-world situations and have a positive impact on my community.

My passion for animal welfare and my experiences in collegiate leadership and high-impact learning have prepared me for a career in veterinary medicine. I am excited to continue to develop my skills and knowledge as I pursue this path and look forward to making a difference in the lives of both animals and humans.
